Message: My vent system on my 03 QC 4X4 doesn't seem to "vent". I get warm or hot air all the time even if it is cool (60 / 70 degrees) outside. I noticed the single vent on the driver's left (next to door) has almost no flow, even under high fan. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?

Message: I have a 02 with the same problem. I have asked the dealer about it and all they say is that it's normal. If you find anything out, it would be interesting to know.

Message: When your vehicle's hvac system is set to vent (or fresh air), it is no more than "fresh air", it is NOT temperature controlled unless you increase the heat setting. The inlet for this fresh air takes heated air from the engine compartment. It is because of the positioning of the inlet that you get warm air. It is NOT a failure or a problem.

Message: JasonB may be right. On the other hand, while I do get warm air from the vent initially, if the air outside is cool enough to prefer it over air conditioning, after the truck has run a mile or so the air coming in should be close to the temp of the air outside. If it's much warmer, it's possible your temp control isn't closing off the hot water to your heater core. As for the vent on the left, mine puts out as much as the one on the right, which isn't quite as strong as the center vents but isn't noticeably weak either. Perhaps the hose to the vent was never properly connected or has slipped off.

Message: About your driver side vent flow issue, if there is no flow, then have a dealer check it. If it is simply uneven flow, keep in mind that unless you have a fan for each vent, you will most likely experience a difference.
Use your judgement.

Message: Thanks. Just wanted to confirm that others have experienced same issue...probably nothing wrong with the truck other than flawed engineering design...

Message: Hey, I get virtually no flow out of my drivers side vent either. As a matter of fact, the flow out all the vents in my opinion, is very poor on all fan settings. I have to keep the A/C fan on it's highest setting just to keep the cab cool in the summer sun. My other car is a Subaru, and it blows ICE cold air and a high flow rate with the fan on the lowest setting.....but this isn't a Subaru board so I digress..............

Message: I saw this same problem under "hot air". I'll repeat: Dodge, & other makers, are pumping hot water thru the heater core to get rid of mold. The ONLY way to get rid of the hot air while ventilating (no A/C) is to stop the hot water. I installed a "gate" valve (some use a "ball" valve)on the top heater hose. Shutting it off will let you drive in 70º weather and not fry your feet off. This takes some mechanical/plumbing knowledge but it works GREAT. I suggest that the valve be open often to rid the heater box area of the mold problem.
