Subject: Diagnostic Codes Translations - Help! IP: Logged
Message: I need help in translating a couple diagnostic codes I got from my 2001 5.9L QC Dak 4x4. Here's the background info first:
It was a salvaged truck we rebuilt. had to replace the computer also due to water damage. and the truck had been sitting with little/no gas in it.
I put a few gallons of gas in and it started right up. However the M-I-L light was on. The codes were:
P0463 - fuel level sensor input above acceptable max voltage
P0455 - Large leak detected in the evaporative purge system.
Could those be caused by the combo of a new computer and fuel tank with little/no gas in it? The truck has not been run extensively since the new computer and salvage work was done (waiting for title paperwork before i can drive it).
Do you think the computer needs to reset itself and get some miles on it to get the system recalibrated?
Any other thoughts/suggestions? I just don't want to do any damage!
Thanks for all the help!!

Message: the 0455 could be caused by a loose hose connection on the canister under the drivers side floor board. make sure the hoses are on good and the gas cap is on tight. My code 0455 went off last week and after pushing the hoses over the barbed fittings tighter it went out. you can reset the codes by disconnecting the negative batt cable and the turn the ignition key on for approx 20 seconds or so

Message: I'll double check the hoses under the drivers side.
Anyone have any info on the 0463 code or any possible trouble shooting info?
Thanks for the help, Dean!

Message: I have a 2002 Dodge Ram. It shows a code P1492. Does anyone know what this means or where I can find a web site that has the list of diagnostic codes?

What to do about it, I haven't a clue.
