Subject: Bug Shield Tip...... IP: Logged
Message: This may or may not be some old news, but when I was looking into bug shields I did a search and found a lot of mixed opinions, so I thought I would share something that I did and that worked, etc etc.
I bought the Ventvisors and a Bugflector 2 deflector from Advance Auto before I even picked up my truck. The ventvisors where very easy to install and fit the window well and I have been impressed with them. The Buglector on the otherhand was 'warping' and coming up in places, etc. So I decided to get the Lund Interceptor from www.truckaddons.com
Here is where the tip comes in, I took goo gone and soaked the 3M tape of the bugflector which mounts to the end of the hood with 3M tape. I let that sit for about 5 minutes or so. I then pulled the whole bugflector and 3M tape of with ease, wiped the hood where it was to remove excess Goo Gone, and applied some Meguires scratch remover just to clean up the area real nice. The Lund Interceptor fits in very nicely. All that is involved is loosening about 6-8 nuts that hold the top of the grill on, slide the deflector betweem the hood and grill, then just retighten. It fits the contour of the hood beautifully, took all of about 15-20mins to remove the old and put the lund on.
Looks great and also makes you feel like it was money well spent.
Basically....if anyone is looking to remove a 3M style of anything, so it real good with Goo Gone and let it sit and work for 5-10minutes and you'll have a clean and easy removal.
If you are looking for a good, well worth your money, bug deflector....go with Lund Interceptor.
Hope this info is helpful to some.
