Subject: polygraphite bushings? IP: Logged
Message: Where do I start. . .I've got 55,000 miles on my 01'qc (I really like to drive it) and the suspension squeaks/groans so bad that it is embarassing to drive. It sounds like i'm pulling up in some 77' 4dr caddy. I put new KYB shocks on it cuz two of the shocks made a little squeaking and they were totally worn out anyway. I removed the sway bar and the bushings looked great. I didn't notice the lower, but the upper control arm bushings are really cracked and I can pick the rubber away with my fingernail. I have ONLY used soap/water on the truck - no degreasers so why the brittle 20 year old looking rubber? I am puzzled. If bushing r&r is necessary should I consider polygraphite bushings? Any ideas / suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
Micah Radnich - 3rd gear chirpin' 4.7 5spd qc.
-Flame red of course.

Message: I hear that cracked upper control arm bushings are common in daks. (mine are cracked as well) I read somewhere that this happens because they are so close to the engine block with no heat shield to protect them. Just my $.02.
