Subject: Headlight lens cover
IP: Logged

Message:
Does the headlight lens cover just snap off by prying up on the visible clips, or will I break something trying to do that? I want to get the covers off to see if I can clean them up inside and out due the yellowing from age. Model is 1997 Dakota.

My question probably sounded stupid. I'm referring to the headlight lens itself, not a cover.

I posted the same question about 3 months ago and was told I need to replace the entire light. My lenses are a little fogged too. I saw what looked like clips that held on the lens. Anyway, I haven't pursued it any further. Anyone else know for sure?

the headlight is glued. you will need to get you some mother's glass and plastic cleaner to clean the lens. I did this and it works great. You can also you blue coral plastic polish. You can buy these at Autozone. I would not force the lens off.

hope this helps

Thanks for the response. 93dak, did you just clean the outside, or did you remove the assembly and clean the inside through the bulb mounting hole?
Thanks,
Billy
