Message: I was wondering about the 5 spd manual transmissions with the 4.7L. If there is anyone out there with this combination. Let me know how you like it.Does it get up and go enough for you ? Does it have good smooth shifting? Is the mileage acceptable? If any of you have any comments, I would appreciate it. Also, let us know your axle ratio. Thanks for any input.

Message: Hell yea, I love it, this thing flys!! Mileage is fine for a V-8, Shifting is ok, its not a Honda, but it does just fine for me at the dragstrip!

Message: I like my 5 speed also. The clutch took a little getting used to. It's not like a sports car clutch. Yes, it is quick. The first gear is real steep. As far as mileage goes there is not much difference between the stick and the automatic. My mileage stays between 13 & 14 with normal city driving. Highway stays between 15 & 16. When I drive it hard I get 10 - 13. I know, the mileage sucks. Oh well, if I wanted mileage I would have bought the 2.5.

Message: I have a 5spd on my 318, I luv it, I have at times chirped 4th gear and as far as the shift throw it is super short, about half the through of my dads ford tranny.

Message: Oh ya. Did a nice break stand last night for my ex in my 4.7 5 speed. I think she was so impressed that we may get through our tough times. LOL Just sat there shiffting gears as the smoke billowed in to the air. The 5 R.C 2wd sport takes out all these stock 2001 vehicles. Prelude,Eclipse,Celica GTS,Civic SI, to name a few that some people consider fast and wiil run with and beat many 5.0 stangs plus all the new production trucks (I think) other than the Lightning.

Message: Yes they are out there but they are hard to find here in Utah. When I bought my truck mine was the only stick in utah and southern part of Idaho eqp. with SLT plus 4x4. Why. We are in truck land here. I know auto's are nice and everything and you looking for a fully loaded truck you want a auto. But. Shesh it was tough to find one. I found what I wanted tho. Just took time.
I get around 17 town and got up to 22 to lake Powell but genrally get 20 on Highway. 3.93 gears
problems: Syncros went out at 3 thousand miles and dealer would not replace it til 9000. Took 6 months to prove it to them. By the time they knew what was up they had to replace the whole trany do to the problem. Not a prob since 30000 miles on it now.
