 Subject: The Whistle Fix!

I know there a few of us out there that have a whistle noise coming from under the hood that seems to be tied to the gas pedal... (not very loud) A little while back I took my air-hat off and put a hose to my ear to locate the exact location of the noise. I determined it was coming from the small port behind the two main intakes in the TB. There is a little motor that controls the air flow into this hole. I had the dealership replace this AIS motor and the whistle is gone! Hope this may help a few of you out there. (I know how annoying it can be)

I actually have the 3.9L but the AIS motor might be the same on all dakotas. The TB is different but they might use the same AIS motor. I would give it a try. Good luck!

I hear that when i have the throttle at a certain position.....but I think thats just because of the 14inch edlebrock intake....yay!

I have an 2000 QC 5.9 and have the whistle at idle. Has anyone else had this AIS motor replaced and had it fix your whistle problem?

ive noticed it gets louder with the A/C on.
'01 R/T Regular Cab, Intense Performance Air Intake, MSD6AL w/8.5mm wires, FlowMaster 40 series split dual, Autolite 3923's, 180° Thermostat, Brass contact distributor cap and rotor, IAT relocated, Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil.

Getting a whistle that seems to be coming from the outside windshield area(possibly) start hearing it at about 30 mph. Doesn't get worse with speed- trouble locating the source- anybody else have this problem??

I had a similar whistle on my 2k, 4.7 Durango & replacing the water pump got rid of the sound. If you don't hear the whistle until your motor comes up to operating temperature, this may be your problem.

I noticed that noise after i put on my TB spacer. I think it'd directly related, but i really don't mind it that much. So i'm in no hurry to fix it.
