Subject: Truck starts won't stay running ..help?? IP: Logged
Message: Hey Guys,
Any ideas here. Went out to my truck this morning and it starts and turns over just fine. But the only way to keep it running is if I give it gas. As soon as I let off the gas it dies.
Any ideas on what the problem could be?
thanks.... Bill

Message: You need to trust me on this one, have the battery load tested. When the battery begins to get weak in Dodge trucks, it makes the idles speed motor operate too slowly. Even though it turns over well, it's probably just weak enough to starve the idle speed motor for voltage.

Message: I think you are probably correct Jason. I've gone through two batteries in the this truck now and I'm at 96k.
While it was running the voltage indicator was slightly past half so we'll just have to see. I liked old cars and trucks better because you could simply just disconnect the battery and the vehicle keeps running via the alternator but with these newer vehicles there's always a drain on the battery.
Anyhow, I decided I didn't have time to play with it this morning so I had it towed to the Dodge Dealership. I'll let everyone know the outcome for future reference.
