Subject: Sealed shift disconnect housing? IP: Logged
Message: The haynes manual and everyone I have talked to says that I have to pull the cover off the shift disconnect housing to get the passenger side inner axle shaft out... The only problem is that there is no cover to remove on mine. It looks like there is a breather line going to the 'lump' in the passenger side of the axle housing, and that is it. There should be vacuum and electric going to the shift disconnect, right? Well, they aren't there. I have to do both front axle seals and am not sure what to expect on the passenger side now. It does go into 4wd, by the way.
So, has anyone heard of a sealed disconnect housing on the front?

Message: Sorry, only bought the thing a few weeks ago and haven't yet studied the specifics of option packages on the Dakota.
