Subject: power window not working.....PLEASE HELP IP: Logged
Message: if anybody could give me any ideas and/or tips concerning this problem it would be greatly appreciated. my truck is a 2001 dodge dakota quad cab (4.7) with electric windows, locks, mirrors. this morning on the way to work, i rode with the front windows 1/2 way down. when i got to work, i rolled the windows up. during lunch i noticed that the drivers side window was down about 1/2 inch, when i pushed the button to roll the window up, it didnt move (only made a straining noise) however i could roll it down, although the motor didnt sound right. so i pushed the window up as far as i could with my hands, but it kept falling back down, and eventually itfell all the way inside my door and it will not roll up now. i did my best to see if its off track by taking the panel off, and it seems to on track as far as i can tell.......could it be the motor? please help....it looks like its about to rain:(

Message: You may want to check to see if there are any metal/plastic the bottom of the door. It sounds like you may have sheared some teeth on the window mechanism/motor. Does it make any noise when you try to lower or raise the window?

Message: if anybody is still interested in helping me out with advice and such, i would appreciate it. i took out the motor today, and opened the regulator housing and found that the wire was chewed up and binded really bad inside of it. obviously i cannot use it, but the motor does seem to work fine, so i guess i just need a new regulator. my questions are; does anybody know where i can buy a regulator at? i havent checked yet, but im sure the dealership will be too expensive, but of course i will buy from them if its my ONLY choice. (autozone, o'reilleys, pep boys does not have them) i really dont want to get one from a junkyard either, since with my luck i would end up with another bad unit. also, if anybody knows where some directions are as to how to install it, or give any pointers, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks for the help.

Message: hey baja dak...i want to put power windows and locks in my truck. i found a kit online that's 200 for everything, but i'd like it to be stock. What all do you have? And do you happen to have your door panels also? I've been looking at every junk yard i can find, but no wrecked dakotas.
