Subject: Help!! SBEC Question IP: Logged
Message: I just got a rebuilt SBEC yesterday. I disconnected the battery and unhooked the old one. Hooked up the new one and reconnected the battery. I turned the ignintion to the pre start position and didn't get a "check engine" light and of course the truck wouldn't start. Put my old unit back in and the check engine light came on and the truck started. Shouldn't the replacements just plug in and go? I'm assuming that since I'm not getting the check engine light to come on means this rebuilt SBEC is N.F.G.

Message: Yes, it should work just as you described. I would try it one more time to make certain it wasn't just a contact problem, but it does sound like you received a bad SBEC.
