hey guys, maybe you all can help me. I have what sounds like tire noise coming from my 98 cc 4x4 5.2. you can start hearing it at about 35mph all the way up too as fast as I go. It quits though if I turn too the right slightly. I already had the wheels balanced, didn't help. checked the drive shafts, differential levels, u-joints, jacked up and checked for loose bearings front and rear. put it in neutral while driving and it still makes noise. also tried shifting in and out of 4x4, didn't help either. there is a slight vibration also. and it's not the tires 'cause i haven't changed them lately and they didn't do it before. any ideas pleeeease!!!!!!!

sounds like a front wheel bearing...there a sealed unit...you have to replace them as an assy. bye the way...jacking up the front and checking the bearing by hand ,won't allways tell ya if there bad, with a sealed bearing...you say the noise changes when you move the wheel, and the noise stays the same when you put it in neutral....front wheel bearing...do your self a favor and replace them both at the same time...there not cheap, but they need replaced...hope this helps

southpaw,
thanks for the info. I kind of figured it was so today I took the front hubs off and rotated them. your right you can't tell if they are bad. so to test them i put the left on the right side and vice-versa. the noise went away. i just drove in to work 30 miles at 75mph and the noise hasn't come back. I plan on changing them still.
once again thank you, MM
