Message: OK. apparently, '97 is a bastard year for daks. the ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON method of checking codes doesn't work even though the haynes manual says it does. BUT, holding down the "trip reset" button next to the digital odometer while turning on ignition does work; HOWEVER, the codes im getting are very different than anything I can find info on. I get 920, 921, 950, then 999 right before it does a self diagnostic of all my lights and gauges on the dash.
The root of my problem is the crank position sensor(CPS) I just discovered today. no fire, no fuel and believe it or not, the fuel gauge doesn't work UNTIL I disconnect the CPS. then the fuel gauge works fine.....????.....whatever..but anyway, once the CPS is disconnected I no longer get the 920 or 921 but the 950 is still given before the self test. I assume 950 is something like "CPS not detected" but who knows?? thats why I'm here....WHO KNOWS??? anybody??
