Subject: Need some help with Quad Cab.... IP: Logged
Message: I want to buy a Sport Plus Quad Cab with the 4.7L
I will be doing the following...
80% back and forth to work
15% towing a 24' travel trailer (3450lbs)
5% offroading with my cousin and his group
I was looking into a Quad Cab with a 5spd manual, anit-slip differential, and 3.55s. Would this be a good combination? Not sure if I should opt for the 5spd Auto or the 5spd manual, that is the biggest decision for me, I like both but since I do a good bit of towing and some offroading I was thinking I would be disappointed with an Auto instead of the manual.
Any suggestions? I'm just trying to figure out a good setup for what I am doing.
Thanks!

Message: I can't comment on the auto vs manual. That's just personal preference. However, I highly recommend you get the 3.92 gears. I have 3.55s in my 02 QC 4.7 auto. I really want the 3.92s or 4.10s.

Message: I just changed my quad 4x4 5 speed from 3.55 to 4.10 and couldn't be happier.
My intown and freeway mileage both went up.
before the switch my 5th gear was too tall and would lug the engine until you got up to 75, and had now power until about 95.
Now I'm not saying I don't love driving 95 or better, but the locals aren't too happy about it.
Get the 3.92 with the LSD and you will be very happy with your choice. 5 speed or auto is preference. ( I would have got the 5.9 in my quad exept I really wanted the 5 speed.)
Hope this helps.

Message: Thanks everyone for the input, I contacted the local dealer, they have a patriot blue quad cab sport plus with a 5spd fully loaded only thing it does not have is the 3.92s. I think I may go with the 3.55s for now and then if needed, I'll spend the cash for the 3.92s or 4.10s down the road. But if they can locate me one with 3.92s, I'll definitely get it.
Again, thanks for all your help!
