Subject: Home-Built Intake?
IP: Logged

Message:
My '00 Dakota needs speed! I am on a little budget so home built intake looks good to me. Does any have a home built intake on their V-6 Dakota? What are the noticeable gains? How much and how do I get plans.(If needed) What is the hp difference between home made and the K&N F.I.K.P.?
thanks

I have a home made intake on my '99 v6. It's built out of aluminized exhaust pipe. The whole intake cost less than $100 to build. You can check it out on my site below.

You can also make one out of 3" pvc pipe. You're talking less than $15 for the need pipe and clamps. It may not look the cleanest, but the gains are just as great as a more expensive home made one.

I don't have any hard numbers on performance gains, but the difference is defintely noticeable. Especially when you go 3/4 to full throtle.

I put on a Edelbrock Pro-Flo air filter P/N 1002. Its a cheaper way to go than the other options. They run around $19.95 and look great!
