Subject: Oil consumtion & intake plenum gasket IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 RT w/85K. I am consuming a quart of oil every 1,500-2,000 miles. No visible leaks. I took the truck in for some work asked if they (reputable garage) would pressure test it for a leak. None found. Thinking it was an oil ring they also checked each cylinder. All were good. When changing out the plugs they noticed that the #8 plug was slightly damp. There is no smoke in the morning but I have noticed when I got on it recently a small cloud shoot out from behind. I have looked down through the TB and there is no oily residue. Could a bad intake plenum or plenum/gasket be to blame? Would it allow oil into that #8 cylinder? If so, will the dealer/garage replace the crappy plenum and/or the gaskets with better ones? Brand? Part #'s?
Any help much appreciated.
P.S. I am not interested in putting on an M1.

Message: Why no M1? That's the quick fix and it's one of the best bang for the buck mods out there.

Message: Check out Hughes engines, they sell a replacement plate to replace the stamped steel factory piece that seals the plenum. They also have modified intake manifolds that work very well.
