It's a bigger mid-size designed to replace the S-10. It has a 4-banger, or a 5-cylinder 220 HP vortec engine? Odd. The sport models comes with 17" wheels and lowered 2" from the factory. The lowered sport looks nice.

Chevy styling is plastic and ugly. GMCs still look nice though. I'll wait 'till I can see the GMC counterparts because frankly, those are ugly. And saying you have a five-banger under the hood doesn't sound too intimidating, especially in a 4000lb QC truck. Have fun in 19 second-land.

the engines are inline 4$5 cylinder all aluminum DOHC offshoots of the 4.2 in the TrailBlazer.
Very promising. Nobody touches GM Powertrain for efficiency of fuel economy.
This puppy won't need a V8.

Too bad joe blow consumer doesn't really give a damn
about "powertrain efficiency" If every competetor has a V8
Chevy is at a disadvantage. Look at the Trailblazer, came
out with the I-6 that was "better than a 8" two years later
GM is dropping in a V8 to compete with the explorer, grand
cherokke utes. Even when it all said and done the only way
that dumb ass 5 makes peak horsepower is spinning it like
a freaking vtec. High rpm motors always do well in
trucks..... Typical GM Just wait 3 years and they will get it
right.

Chevy/GM should have done this way back in 95 instead of passing off the current design.
I.M.O. it looks too feminine and wasn't that much improved over the 86-93 design.
I'll wait on the Colorado until my 2001 QC gives up on me.( like in 20 years ).
Also if you want to go with the QC style ,test drive with adults in the back seat and ask them what they think.
Kids will say they love anything if they think daddy's going to buy a new truck.

i actually meant the full size version ive seen an SS and its butt ugly! The smaller Colarado seems to wear it well.

i like them ok. the front end looks better when standing next to it than when you are driving by one.
the reason v8's are better is the low end torque for towing and throwing you back in your seat. the toyota 4runner comes with a supercharged v6 or the 4.7L v8. with the 6 you may get a little better gas mileage and the same HP numbers, but you don't get anywhere near the 315 lb-ft of torque the v8 has.
the new chevy engines are very smooth and all that, but they need to rev too high to get any power. people bash the toyota v8 but it makes it's power numbers at 3200rpm vs. chevy's 4000rpm. customer demand will eventually put the 5.3 in the new midsized truck like the trailblazer.

GM Powertrain designed the infamous Quad 4 engine that was in my 1988 Olds Cutlass Calais. That engine puked it's guts after only 64,000 miles.
