Message: "And it just so happens that some of the fastest and most powerful engines in the world are pushrod engines so when i pass you in a viper or vette with a PUSHROD engine you can call me old and i wont care"
And when I pass YOU in a Ferrari which is a Over-head cam motor I will call you old fashion. But I am a bigger pushrod fan.

And overhead cams predate pushrods.

Message: steve-o, that 2.5L engine in that van is the engine designed by Willem Weertman, the one in the late 80s Daytonas. The Dakota's 2.5L is an AMC motor. It produced more power block to block, but those non-AMC 2.5s can take a hell of a lot of boost -- that's where they have the advantage over even V8s. Daytona and Charger Shelbys anyone?
Stop confusing the two.

Message: I should correct myself. The 2.2 and 2.5 litre engines were in the Dakotas, but that was late 80s and very early 90s. I doubt many of you have one of those.

What about the Enzio Ferrari, or the F50 or F40
all of them cars run well into the 11s for the 1/4 mile.

Here's the timeslip (what it looks like that is):
60ft-------1.9748 (stock tires)
330 ft-----5.1748
1/8 mph--94.75
1/8 ET-----7.7805
1000 ft----9.993
1/4 mph---122.95
1/4 ET-----11.8657
2003 Viper Stock (yes, even the tires!). Yes please.
And depending on where you look, the F50 is in the low 12s, the F40 is in the upper 11s and I have yet to see a 1/4 time for the Enzo anywhere. Looks like it'll come down to the driver. I'd take the Viper.

Message: A Ferrari running gear isn't made to take that kind of abuse, well, not really (1/4 racing). Look at the diameter of the driveshaft, the rear end size, and so on. It's all wayyyy smaller than the Viper's.

Message: I've heard Hennessey's cars are practically undrivable. I don't know about you guys, but being able to break the rear tires loose by mashing the gas pedel...WHILE DOING 80 ON THE HIGHWAY does not really appeal to me. Give me something that can actually transmit power to the pavement and not burn it all up into unusable energy. Those twin-turbo Vipers with 1000+ HP are just mechanical pissing contests IMHO. The Viper in its stock form would be more than enough car for most of us. Then again, what do I know?
