Subject: oil pressure guage IP: Logged
Message: Today my oil pressure guage stopped working on my 96 318. It went all the way to the high side of the guage and the oil light came on. Unplugging the harness from the sending unit makes no difference. the guage stays in the same place. Doesnt move even when the truck is off or started. This sound like its a wiring problem or in the instrument cluster itself?
Thanks
Gary

Message: You may have solved this already, but it's you sending unit, they are cheap to replace it's the peice that the harness clips to, just swap on a new one, you can buy a specifit socket to make it easier

Message: more than likely its your sending unit....but too check the factory gauge...just unplug it from the sending unit and ground it....then with the key on ..watch the gauge..if it peg either way, left or right..replace the sending unit..if it doesn't peg....you may have a gauge and/or wiring problem...hope this helps
