Subject: Air Conditioning Clutch assembly?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a grinding Air Conditioning clutch assembly on my 95 Dakota 3.9 V6. Sounds like the bearing is stuck when Air/Defog isn't engaged. Anyone have any info on how hard it is to change myself and where to get the parts? The compressor seems fine and works.
Thanks for any info!
Robert

u can get the parts from a dealer or any a/c repair shop...but, they are gonna rape u...its close to 200 for the clutch if i remember correctly, i could be wrong though...then i heard its a pain in the a** to instal it...if u wanna go a lil cheaper than that i have a compressor assy with a good clutch in it for sale cheap for $50...be cheaper on u to do the whole thing and pay someone to evac and recharge ur system than do the clutch assy...i was having the same problem with my V6 and priced em out...give me a shout if ur interested, but i do go on leave the 30th of this month so if u want it i need to know way before then...thanks a lot.

Thanks Justin, but I think I have fixed it. You are right, they wanted $212 for just the clutch! I told them they must be crazy. I found that the clutch just isn't dis-engaging all the way. If I tapped on it just a little bit it would pop all the way out fine. I sprayed WD-40 in it and working great now :)
Thanks anyways on the offer!
