Subject: HO Cam Install. IP: Logged
Message: So I finally tried to install the cams this weekend but got a little scared when it came time to remove the fuel line.
I have read several posts of guys not having to remove this. is that correct?
also I am not able to find a copy of the install instructon anywhere.
I had a page bookmarked with a great PDF but cannot find anything now that I am trying to install.
If anyone has a copy of the directions they can email me that would be great! or a link to where they are at now.
thanks.

Message: Thanks for the input Kowalski,
I started the project last weekend and got to that point of the tear down.
the problem that I ran into was that the fuel line and the wire loom were intertwined.
It appeared to be very difficult to get the wire loom out of the way without removing the fuel line.
my time budget was very limited that day so we decided to scrap it and put it back together.
I will tear it down again soon and try and work arround the wire loom and fuel line.
I would prefer not to remove the fuel line or rails if possible.

Message: It will be tight to wiggle the valve covers out; I got a little extra room unbolting master cylinder and AC component from the firewall. Good luck.

Message: Finally finished!
Thanks to all of you for the great posts that gave me to courage to tackle this job myself.
I consider myself to be fairly mechanical but got a little spooked by the potential damage this job done wrong could do.
Truck is running great! With 4:10 gears and HO cams, it is definalty a totaly different eperience driving it. (won't do wheelies....yet!)

Message: Jaggy, what year is your truck ? If 2000, try the Leach flash next, I did it right after the cams and it seemed like that much of an increase again.

Message: That flash is only for the 2000, not sure but Kenne Bell might have a flash for yours. The extra advance (34 degrees) really wakes it up. Look for that kind of advance when comparing.

Message: Thanks kowalski.
STS sorry bro, haven't had it on a dyno.
it costs more than the mods in some cases.
I was going to take to our local drag strip tonight and see what kind of 1/4 mile time I can get.
As for the sensor I left it attached to the gear and did it just like the other side.
Because I wedged the chain and then zip tied the chain to the gear I had no wories of the chain coming off. But that did make it a little tuff to line the gear up on the cam.
I made sure the gear was set then taped lightly with a hammer.
