I am a life long Ford owner but I must say, Ford has some work to do to compete with a Dakota. Started falling in love with them after my wife got a 99 4x4 5.2 Durango. The other brands might as well give up as far as I'm concerned. The quality of my Dakota beats anything GM has to offer.

I'm always seeing recalls on so many fords (escapes, exploders, rangers, etc.). HEY! Remember when fords had those faulty ignition switches that would cause the car to start on fire? My brothers old Mustang never got that changed, the new guy who owns it might be really toasty right now.

A friend of mine was givin' me grief about owning a Dodge. This was back when I had the 1989 2.5 Dak. He had a 1996 Ranger. Well, he now has a Ford F-150 , and it keeps eating alternaters. But the poor soul still loves his Ford. He said that if he had to put in order , out of the big three , that he would drive , it would be , 1:Ford , 2:Chevy, and 3:Dodge. I pissed him off when I said mine would be 1:Dodge, 2:chevy, and 3: Nike!!

After reading this post i must say you guys are
all way too biased. I have been in chevies, fords
and now dodges. I have to admit i don't like
chevies, and well dodge??? well i currently own a
2000 dakota with this so called wonder engine???
i have to say that the butt -dyno thinks its kinda
nice, but i have to admit, i have not been
impressed with this piece of hyped up piece of not
well thought thru hunk of metal and plastic!!! I
owned 2 F-150's and well they were twice the truck
this thing is, and well even if their motors
weren't as powerful or as quick, i loved them
more. I will say that after having this dodge for
over a year now, i will after i am ready to get a
new truck i will probably go back to Ford. Sorry
to be a so called "traitor" but i have found
better quality in fords. But that is just my
opionion.

I wouldn't agree that Ford has better quality than Dodge (that's just their slogan). I have owned an '89 Bronco that was a lot of fun to drive, when it wasn't breaking down. In addition, almost every police department in my area using their famous crown victoria have seen fewer annual miles put on these cars because they are at the local dealer for recalls or repairs more than they are on the road. One of Ford's best recalls on these cars so far is that there is a vibration at speeds over 115 mph due to a defect in the rear driveshaft. So, how does Ford remedy the problem, they recall the cars and adjust the speed limiter to keep the cars from going faster than 115 mph. Quality is job one? In comparison, the '97 Dakota I had was the most reliable vehicle I have personally owned and the only problem with my 2001 is a set of faulty front discs. I have not heard of anybody being killed or injured from a brake problem yet, just annoyed. It seems to me that if people have nothing better to do with their time than come here and bash Dodges, they probably need to get a life.

Hello You are bashing someone who had owned a ford. He currently owns a Dodge. He personal opinion is he likes fords better. Do you read any thing. Before you start telling people to get a life maybe you should read what they have to say.
I Love my Dakata even tho They replaced the transmission and Transfer case at 9000 miles.

Actually, I should have clarified as to whom my statements were directed. I simply disagree with johng's statement that Ford has better quality than Dodge. I have not had the same experience with the vehicles I have owned. Sorry if you thought I was directing that at you. As far as the latter statement, I meant that for C-DUB.

in my time i have seen dodges put chevys and ford to shame when it comes to quality. Fords are ment to please on the showroom floor but out in the real world dodge is just better. For example. Look at the rear end on the chevy s-10 or tahoe it is good size for the truck but when you compair it to the huge thing that dodge mounted on the durango and dakota. TOTAL OVERKILL but thats quality.

Hey guys don't get me wrong, for some folks,
dodges are the best. I love my dakota, but i am
just sick of the problems with it and how DC
decided to over look things, and at a price that
we have to pay for a MID SIZE truck i would think
that the quality would be a bit better. I owned a
93 f150 and it still is in the family, and the
most in all those years that has goen wrong on it
was a reaplcement of ball joints and calipers at
75,000 miles!!!! other than a rear seal in the
rear end due to my own fault!!! But don't get me
wrong, maybe i have a truck that is near a lemon,
and the dealerships are bad around here. But this
is the first dodge our family has owned!!!! Who
knows, my opinion may chage as time goes on.

The quality of all North American vehicles suck. My ex fiances dad bought a golf and her brother an Audi A4. (Her family is from Europe) Both are absolutley gutless but when you look at all the fine details, trim, door hinges and all fine details they makes my truck look like shi.. Her brother made the comment my truck is made with a hammer and a chisle. This is true I said but my truck will also run yor luxury Audi so deep into the ground in a race you will shi.. He doesn't beleive it yet still doesn't find the time to have that race for a grand we both agreed on. I think he saw me lay into it down the street and realized his European car allthough very beautifull and expensive is no contest for American brute force.

Well this is all fun to argue about but the truth is that all these manufacturers are out to make a buck. They don't give a sh*t about you and me. The truck I drive at work is a chebbie. My personal truck is a Dakota, of course. I have owned some good Fords (the new ones are fuggly). All have had some good attributes and all have had problems. For instance: I love my Dakota but I have had to have the rear drums turned 2 times in 34000 miles. I have never had this problem before. I will replave the rear drums soon BUT Mopar drums won't go back on. I agree with Jeffster about the foriegn cars but My personal experience has been bad with them too. HUMMMM. Maybe it is just me...????...

Wayne,Chrysler brakes are just plan junk,my wife's van rotors where junk at about 18,000 miles.My son works at Tuffy and he works on Mopar brakes the most of anything.They have rotors that pit very bad.Any one out there that has a Dak with less than 12,000 miles,ck your rotors for pitting.Chrysler used different rotors on the 2000 Daks and they are very expensive.

Ladies and Gentleman.......Dodge rules. Its not a question. Its a statement. Written in stone. I have always liked the Dodge shape..and if you'll notice, in the larger (2500-3500) the body styles seem to pattern that of the beastial Dodges. As far as true comparison...I own a 96' Dakota and I have taken a Z-71 off the line. In my humble opinion...Dodge = better.
