Well, first of all let me say i am not biased at all on any company, only certain cars, ford makes good trucks, thats about it, i have a 99 ranger that is about to break the 90k miles mark, no problems even running over the gauges rpms regularly, racing almost daily, and offroading encluding many large jumps and river crossings. They got it right with the ranger. So why am i here you ask? Well i am getting a dakota r/t now because it is the only smaller truck with what i want, and it is just plain bad a$$. Dont get me started on rustangs though that is another story, but lets just say the ranger is a great little truck, and if i wanted another small truck with a little engine thats what i would get. So please dont bash on any cars except rustangs, without owning one first.

if these guys think dodges suck so much, why don't they just go away to their ford forums or whatever. they can talk about how much better their car is there and not waste anyone else's time. Oh yeah, I honestly was really set on buying the 2000 or 2001 ranger, but had a tough time finding a 5 speedon the 4.0 and in 2001 they discontinued the 5speed on the 4.0. Plus dollar for dollar, I felt that the dakota offered more than the tacoma or ranger or s-10. I spent a long time before I made my mind up about the dakota.

I think Chevys are great trucks. But Dodges are just pices off Junk. I have frinds who have them and they complain about them having to work on them almost evry weekend There 4 wheel drives must be made of plastic when somebody tells me there dodge tore up again I just say "you should have bought a Chevy!"

I bought a DODGE because it will not rust into oblivion like a Chevy or a Furd. I can "fix" a leaky radiator hoze... but i REFUZE to do bodywork.
ALL chevy trucks rust over the rear wheels.... IT IS THEIR TRADEMARK!!

A little history (and spelling lesson!) for you young bucks! First off - it's "Rhodes Scholar" & NOT "rouge scholar"! That's the pink powder women put on their face - dumba$$!
Remember when Ford had a "better idea" with the "Twin I-Beam" front suspension? Yeah, better for the alignment and tire shops! (I ate more front tires with my Ford E-150 than a mis-aligned, front wheel drive car!)
GM made the venerable DUCK during WWII which was the supremely ULTIMATE off-road vehicle! And Dodge made the famous "Power Wagon" which lived on LONG after the 40's! Dodge may have lagged behind Ford and GM but they always relied on proven technology for reliability! Since all of Detroit seems to use Dana axles, I can't see where ANY of them have an advantage over another... It's the build quality that counts later on!
You want to talk engines? Back in the 60's, Chevy may have had the venerable big-block "Rat motor" (396-454) BUT there's only EVER been one KING and that was the 426 HEMI - the "Elephant motor"! (Notice Ford wasn't mentioned?) - Mopars ruled at the drag strip! - nuff said!!! Any of you "old-timers" care to corroberate my story?

No question about that...anyone ever take a REALLY close look at the top choice of engines in drag-racing? HEMI - granted, it's not the original Mopar Hemi...but guess where they got that idea from. ;)
Oh yeah...and what happened to the Mopars in NASCAR? The "other brands" were complaning about the Mopars being too fast (and the officials as well) so Mopar allowed the others to compete and withdrew from NASCAR...for a while.

How about a 'Rogue Scholar' instead of a Rhodes Scholar?
This group of young and not-so-young scholars committed themselves "to making scholarly research and writing available and understandable to the general public, as well as to those scholars working in non-related fields." In his Rogue Scholars manifesto, Prof. Coopman defined the Rogue Scholar as "a learned person no longer obedient to the status quo; playful, mischievous." Obviously a bit different, with underlying similarities, to a rarely selected 'Rhodes Scholar'.
There can usually be more than one answer for a mistake. Greybeard, there's no question to your scholarly abilities. 'Dumbass', if you're referring to an unintelligent donkey, should be 'dumb ass'. If you're referring to a person who gets their panties in a bind and posts profanity on internet forums, it should be 'dumb-ass'.
We all love Dakotas. Even Ford and Chevy owners who don't admit it.

YJ - better reread your post that Greybeard is referring to. Your first sentence says "rouge" scholar. We understand the later referrence to "rogue" scholar but The first sentence makes you look bad when you are getting on someone for being dumb. Rhodes is a school. rogue is well explained by your self. Rouge is a color.

I have a 2001 4x2 Quad Cab, 4.7(287ci) V-8, 5-speed, 3.55 LSD rear-end with towing, heavy duty service, convenience, tire & handling package (16x8 rims w/10" tires) and get 23.5mpg freeway on non-MTBE gasoline and average 19mpg here in the Sierra-Nevada foothills of Claifornia on MTBE gasoline which drops mileage by 2mpg.
If you want mileage, stay away from the slush box and full-time 4x4 or get a diesel mini-truck. I think my dad's Mazda with Mitsubishi diesel gets 35MPG.
