Message: Hello, just wanted to share my opinion of this product, recently replaced my stock headlight bulbs with the silver star bulbs, they look much whiter and I can actually see at night now! I was going to buy them online at sylvania's site but they wanted $49 for the pair. Ended up getting them from Advance auto parts ( florida) for $38 for the pair. Just my findings, a good replacement item.

Message: Glad to hear your happy with your purchase. They seem to be popular with many people. They are of course "whiter" than stock lamps as they are 4000 kelvin bulbs vs the stock lamps which have a lower kelvin rating.
It should be noted however that since they are legal for on street use, they in fact are not putting out more light, just whiter light. If you want more light you will need to up the wattage. Higher wattage lamps are available but they are for "off road use only" as anything above 55/65 is illegal. An example is the Hella bulbs in either 55/100 or 80/100. I personally use the 55/100. Low beam is same output as street legal lamp and high beam, well you turn your high beams off when someone else is around anyway so my thinking is no harm no foul ( though johnny law will see it otherwise ). Oh, and I got the Hella bulbs for less than $6.00 each. Just something to consider for those thinking about upgrading the stock bulbs.

Message: the silver stars say they have a maximum wattage of 65/70, I agree what your saying and i know what you did in yours I did that in my old nissan 4x4 I used the hella european sealed beams ( different fluting on the lens, not legal in US) and 60/100 watt bulbs.

Message: Your right, they do list sevearl wattages as "maximum", as if they are variable?. Wanna bet they don't actually achieve "maximum" but rather just what is legal? ;-)
