Mine is a '01 Quad 5.9, 2WD, but the "Service 4x4" indicator is on. Thinking of doing the Elvis/TV thing to it, but thought someone here might have a better idea. HELP!

On my 01 4x4 the service 4 wheel drive light is on too, mine turned out to be the transfer case control module, does your truck have the rotary 4x4 knob? when the light on mine first came on the led above the 2wd would light up sometimes, now it doesn't light up at all and I have no 4wd, Having it fixed friday. Bad thing is the service 4 wheel drive light doesn't trigger any codes so It has to be diagnosed manually.

Click This Link

This is a known defect. Go to the Alldata website using the above link, print out the TSB and take it to your dealer.

Ususally when you tell a dealer about a TSB they look at you with a blank stare usually only found on comatose hospital patients. They like to deny their existence even though every dealer gets them.

Yes their is a TSB on this problem but on mine it wasn't part of it, my truck was made after the trucks that were affected. But it wouldn't hurt to ask about the TSB, I know I called chrysler and had the guy look up what dates were affected by the TSB.

Sorry hardbody, I was providing the link for the O/P who has a 2WD. My 01 did the same thing until I took it to the dealer and said, "u fix."
