Message: Dear Slopehead:
I see that you were so concerned to reply to my message that I had "skirted" according to you that I had to reply after posting a provoctive responce to your antics. I wait with baited breath for your reply and yet there is nothing day after day. I feel like tossed aside Jack-In-The-Box wrappers (we have no Jack in Canada yet, but I have tried it in Phoenix). If the KING of Kings of Dakotas cannot help me then WHO CAN?????
Yes, I still need crappy used 255/55/17 to satisfy a Dakota lease agreement with Chrylser Canada and am willing to pay top dollar for them (min 4/32 tread depth).
AND BTW:
Just for Slopehead, here is my last posting JUST FOR HIM:
Well, I HAVE been forthright in previous posts thaat YOU had responded, and have not skirts in my closet except a tarton one with no skivies. I do really need help and will cut and paste my report here for you.
Here's the deal with Chrysler Financial Canada (CFC here after): They have in the lease agreememt a return policy which I could return the truck at any time for a few dollars. Either then or at the termination of the lease, there is a vehicle inspection done (ALL leases have this). All of the major manufactures have become qutie harsh on the lease returns as they are getting the cars and trucks out the door for right near cost, so they are covering their back end of the lease. IN the agreement, there is all sorts of min. requirements that the truck has to meet. IE: windshield damage, paint quality, clicks on the odometer, TIRE WEAR, etc. The tire requirement is that it have 4/32 or 1/8 tread left to "pass". Mine have 2/32 left on 4 out of 5 tires. I also "failed" on a few paint areas and not having a front liscence plate bracket (I have since found it in my garage because they wanted $61 for a new one). I must say that this is ALL to do with CFC and not my local dealer. The guys at my Dodge dealer are doing EVERYTHING they can to help me out. They are detailing the truck to try and polish out the few scratches that might not pass at CFC. They will give me dealer cost for 4 new tires (still works out to be $750). They are also taking out the K&N air filter system (paid like $600 for it) and putting in the stock one that I have so I can sell the K&N one (anyone want one??!!.. trade for some POC tires!!!!!) I told the guys at Dodge that I thought that it was a brutal way of doing business because I planned on possibly getting a family vechile from them (Grand Caravan or some other MPV), but that had absolutly NO bearing on the lease that I had with the R/T!! Can you believe it?? I guess that it is more of a cut- throat business now than I thought it was.
My only options are to continue leasing the truck (three year contract is up and I can lease month by month), but I already have a new Astro for my work (Cable Guy ~ Canadian chapter!!), and I don't exactly have an extra $500 a month for a truck for fun!! I can also buy out the truck, but it was like $20000 ($14,937.64)which is right near what it is worth, and I don't want to try and sell it (anyone wanna buy a truck?).
Basically I just want out of the lease as cheap as possible, even if that means OVERPAYING for some crap used tires (HAVE to be 255/55/17). As long as I can get "passable" tread on this thing for cheaper than getting "new" ones, I am winning, and CFC is losing. What I really hate is that if I end up getting new tires on the truck, the only one that wins is CFC. I am basically setting up someone elses truck for resale, so really, I want to get the 'used' ones on the truck, just to spite!
OK, Enough for now..
Questions? Concerns? Comments????
I NEED TIRES!!!! ARRRGH!!
BTW: I Get to keep the "slicks" (2/32) that someone could use for racing!!! wanna trade???

Chris,
I too have had my problems with Mr. Slopehead.
Slopehead- the "slope" is from radical brain surgery.
He is missing something in his cranium.
His IQ is right there with the caveman.
Can everyone spell lobotomy?

Message: Chris Move to the USA and you won't have to deal with the stupid lease you signed, and here in the USA the banks are much better to deal with then the manufacurer on a lease, I did not realize you are in Canada. My brother in law works for a major nationally known repair shop. I have bought used tires from him in the past when I was selling a used vehicle just to put some better rubber on it, very simular to your deal. I would imagine, unless Canadian Laws are different, you might be able to go to a new dealer and get used tires rather cheap. One time a guy bought a brand new SUV and with less then 20 miles on it took it to where he was working and put a new set of tires on it, even though he had perfectly good rubber on the thing anyway. I bought the almost new tires from him for 10 bucks and laughed all the way home. Maybe you might be able to do the same. He told me that a lot of times the tire busters will , when they come across good rubber, "put the tire aside" then sell it to anyone who asks, but the guys in the sales lobby usually won't tell you this as they make their money selling new, not used so you would have to go into the garage part of the shop and talk to the mechanics to find out if they are available. After seeing the problems you are having I guess the best thing to do is never lease.
Ralph, a perfect description of yourself, I could not say it better.
