should I turn off the overdrive when towing a trailer? 2001 dak 4x4 quad cab 4.7 auto. Trailer has electric brakes and it is a low hauler carring two 700lb harleys

Yes,
The manual says not to tow with overdrive and from what i have read its not a good idea.

In a word....No!
Now, if your truck is constantly kicking in and out of overdrive then yes, do the tranny a favor but if you are just cruisin' down the highway it'll be fine!
