Message: I went to my parent's this weekend (bout 190 miles one way) and got some nice mpg reading. My MPG has been slipping lately, but I finally got it back up. I got 19.4 on the way over and 16.7 on the way back. The trip back I was pulling a 13' trailer with a wood picnic table and a gas grill. My bed was FULL of broke down boxes (yes, I am fixing to move). My previous best pulling a trailer on that trip was 12.7! 16.7 is a MAJOR imporvement. I tried not to pick up speed too fast and stay under 60 mph. On the trip over I stayed at about 60-65 - remember, it was memorial day weekend, cops everywhere!
Just thought I would share =]
btw, I have a 98 RC 5.2 auto 3.55 NON SG with 48k miles, flowmaster and home brew K&N. I changed my oil yesterday also, but I don't know if that helps with mileage, seeing as how I used the same thing - Mobil 1 10w30.
My record best MPG is 24 on the hiway. I was doing 55 for 270miles behind a uhaul =]

Message: Has anyone read page 138 of the new FOUR WHEELER? Yeah, I've gone back to reading 4x4 mags cause I've decided to get either a 4x4 Ram or a 4x4 Dakota next. But anyways the story is called "I can't drive 55!" in this article they took a 2000 Dakota Quad Cab with a 4.7 down the express way at different speeds to see what kinda milage it gets. At 65 MPH they got 18.87 MPG, at 75 MPH they got 16.92 MPG, and at 55 MPH they got 20.75 MPG. Just a thing to consider, how much are you guys paying for a gallon of regular? $1.83 here in Wisconsin, next to Milwaukee.

Message: exactly... I try to stay at or below 60 to get my best MPG (or should I say bearable hehe) There is a guy on the DML that has a 2k 4.7 5spd that gets in the upper 20's, like 27 or so. He never goes over a certain RPM etc.. dang impressive IMHO

Message: Why buy a 4.7 and do everything possible to get 20+ MPG. What fun is that?
