Message:
i've been looking around online to see what kind of upgrades i can do myself, and i keep seeing instructions that say torque the bolts down to 12 ft-lbs, or 20, or whatever. all i got is basic hand tools, always gotten the job done for me, how can i tell how much i've torqued a bolt down, or does it matter that much.

invest in a torquewrench, torque matters too little and the bolts come loose and the wheels fall off, literally, or parts distort in use. too much and parts distort from too much pressure or threads strip out or bolts break.
