Does it matter which is done first? I was thinking of getting the Rhino liner and an Extang tonneau. Thanks!

i guess you could put the tonneau in and crawl under it and spray the liner in...you might get high too if youre lucky...

Oh, I forgot to mention.... a tonneau cover is one of those black things over the bed that's removable.

Because, goofy, the rails that the cover snap onto, may not be removeable...

Why would you have the spray-on go over the rails? Two people I work with had it done over the rails, One now hates it and the other still is trying to convince himself it was the way to go.

I don't know why.... didn't have an opinion either way, so I figured over the rail protects more of the bed, so why not... why is over the rail a bad idea?

the reason to spray a truck over the bed tops is a good idea. If you use your truck as a truck then youll be loading tools lumber and other things in and sometimes you wont open the tailgate youll just hike them over the bed side.

Out of all the beds that ive done so far its been about 90% over the rail. my last customer was a construction company who I do beds for on their work trucks. the owner had a truck done by me under the rail. last time I was there he said 2 weeks after I did the truck for him he was loading stuff up and dinged the bed rail with a shovel. since then for some reason all the trucks are getting over the rail spray liner.

there is nothing wrong with a over the rail spray on liner. its a personal preference. Ive seen some horrible jobs done but it can be fixed

One more reason to have over the rail is to keep the rails of the top at the same level as the tailgate, that's assuming your going over the top of the tailgate with the spray on bedliner. That was my choice and the tonneau cover seals perfect.

I had mine sprayed UNDER the bed but OVER the tailgate. I actually had it go about 2.5 inches down the tailgate. That way, when I slide things into the bed over the tailgate, I don't scratch the paint. I put a camper shell on, but still will often have stuff (like lumber) hanging out the back.
I am really glad I had that extra bit of liner on the tailgate. At least one time in your life, you will misjudge the effort needed to heft something into the bed (over the tailgate) and clip the top of the tailgate. That little bit of liner has been a paint saver.
