Subject: Overheat question IP: Logged
Message: My 95, 4 cyl is beginning to overheat, or at best run hot most of the time. I've replaced the radiator cap with a new 16#, and put in a new thermostat. I've noticed I'm using anti-freeze, but haven't found traces either on the ground, or splattered in the engine. In fact, sometimes the resevoir will be right at the Full line, then down below ADD. Drive back home (35 miles) and it's up to the top of the resevoir and bubbling. Someone told me it's probably the water pump, but I haven't seen anything.

Message: Sounds like a head gasket, not a waterpump. Bad news is that's expensive. Good news is you don't have a V6 or V8 engine, where it would be TWICE as expensive. Bring it to a shop and pay the $40 to have it checked over, looking for a hydrocarbon reading in the radiator.
