Subject: Paint is Oxidizing already IP: Logged
Message: I got my truck in January, black 4x4 sport, and the paint of the back of the roof is oxidizing already. I am assuming the dealer is gonna give me crap about fixing it. It shoudl be covered under my warranty right?
Thanks Jason

Message: No self-respecting dealer will give you any crap about your paint concern. If you do not like your dealer, find another one. Once enough people do that, you'll find improved service there.

Message: Dodge gives you 3 years 36,000 miles under the paint warranty.
After that... you gotta "fight" with them. (Trust me... go take care of this NOW. DON'T WAIT!)

Message: If I stated I would put a 3 yr 36000 mile warranty on something, you would have to fight with me also to get a repair beyond that. Thats the point of putting warranty in print.

Message: But that's the funny part about this... they "understate" that the warranty is like that and even then the signs of a "paint defect" can go unnoticed (although they are definitely there...) until it is too late.
When my truck was right at 36,000 miles, the dealer was trying to tell me that my "paint imperfections" were caused by "bird droppings" and not a defect... well now that a whole side of the truck is now turning from bluish purple to white, I'm sure that a bird didn't just wipe its @ss along the side of my truck...
Either way, that "warranty fix" that they didn't allow then is haunting me now... They admitted to part of it, but now the rest is starting to show. Pretty much, a defect is a defect... they KNEW that some of these paint jobs are shoddy and pretty much they sit and wait hoping that you (the consumer) are not gonna notice.
More or less if anything is to be gained by this... it's "keep on your toes and don't let the warranty slip out on ya... or at least get your concerns documented as that will go a long way with Dodge Corporate when it comes to arguing your case.) ;)

Message: Ok, thanks guys. But one other thing is that the paint on my front bumper is also "chipping away" I now have about 5 big chips out of my front bumper, I should assume that this is covered also right? My truck is already into the dealer this morning however (check engine light, popping in the front end under acceleration, braking, bumps, etc, plus super-annoying squeaking on the drivers side of the truck.) so I will just let them know when they call me....
Thanks
