 Subject: Wiring up driving lights

I recently bought a set of hella FF50's to help with lighting (even with aftermarket bulbs, the stock brights suck). I tried to wire them up according to the diagram in the instructions, and they would work on highs and turn off on low beam, but when the headlights were turned completely off, the lights came back on. I can't figure it out. What wire should I be tapping in the stock headlight plug, and why is it doing this stuff?
I'd REALLY appreciate some help.
