4.7 Has 235hp and 295lb tq
5.2 Has 230hp @4600 rpm's and I think 300lb tq
The faster revs of the 4.7 do make it feel like a lot more for you can harness that 235 hp in no time. Owned both engines and feel the 4.7 completly out classes the engine it replaced.

Have you even looked at Dodge's website (www.4adodge.com)?? They've got all the specs on the Dakotas there! And I can't seem to figure out why you're comparing the 4.7 to the 5.2? The 5.2 isn't even an available option anymore. If you're buying new you have the options of 2.5, 3.9, 4.7 or 5.9. The 5.9 is only available in the R/T or quad cab models though.
I've seen a lot of posts coming from your direction for basic information that is readily available on the manufacturer's websites. Take some time to research the sites, print out specs, lay them out, and do the comparisons. Then you'll have all the information first hand and can make your important decision.

Sorry Blizzard, didnt mean to put you out(sarcastic tone). Actually, I had no idea there was a site that had all this info on mopar engines. The reason I am comparing the 4.7 to the 5.2 is because I own the 5.2 now and will most likely end up getting the 4.7 and would just like an idea of what its like. Thanks for the site info.

I just checked out 4adodge.com and was surprised. I compared the 3.9 Dakota 4x4 against some of the Ranger and S-10 4x4's and was shocked. The Dakota gets beat in some HP and Torque figures and who would have guessed that the Tacoma would beat the Dak in some towing comaprisons.

That doesn't seem shocking at all because they are the only company offering a V8 in a compact for those that need the power. Ranger, Chevy, and Toyta V6's are more powerfull than Dodges because they need to be for there is no other option available.
