Subject: 92 vs 93 and up water pumps IP: Logged
Message: I have a 92 CC with a 318. I ordered a flowkooler water pump for 93 and up 5.2 and 5.9 magnum engines.
This water pump came with a smooth machiened hole where the heater hose connects to it. My OEM water pump hole has been tapped so a heater hose nipple can be inserted into the water pump.
Do the later year pumps have a pressed in nipple? Any ideas on how to get around this? I've ordered 2 pumps and neither of the heater hose connectors were tapped. Why are the 2 years so different? Is there a difference between the years? I didn't think there would be...

Message: How's a nice way to put this...vehicle evolution. The newer models use a inferior steel tube with an o-ring as a seal with the pipe held by some engine bolt. Also as part of Chrysler's cost savings they now weld the pulley to the hub, o. k. unless you may want to add an underdive pulley later. When I replaced my waterpump and discovered these "improvements" I threaded the pump with a pipe tap, added some thread sealer to my hose nipple and threaded it in. By the way this is a new o.e. part from the dealer for my 92 and I believe the aftermarket does the same thing as well.
