 Subject: Clunk in front end 02 QC

Iv'e got a clunk in the front end of my 2002 Quad Cab 4x4 4.7. When I turn left I get a clunk noise plus I feel it. Iv'e been to the dealer 6 times to get it fixed. 1st time sway bar burshing. 2nd time they said the could not hear the noise(BS). 3rd time something with the rack. 4th time new ball joint. 5th time sway bar bushing(again). 6th time (yesterday) they say it is something to do with the rack and pinion(again)they will call me when the parts come in. Iv'e got 35600 on the truck the problem started at 22000. I'm ready to pull my hair out Help.

SAME thing here! Just dropped it off today for the ... oh, I've lost count how many times it's been to the dealer!!!
Ball joints, rack and pinion boots leak and low on fluid AND stiffer to turn the wheel now, drivers side door hinge replaced (might be ding it again this trip in!) Sway bar bushing lubed then replaced a week later, more ball joints, more this more that.......
UGH.... BUT I am getting it all done under warranty and getting documentation on it.
Try taking it for a test ride with the service mgr and I found driving over a curb (or driveway lip etc) with the wheels turned will make the ball joint noisey!! You need some sort of bump to go over at an angle to really hear it enough for the service mgr to notice!

i have the same problem. mostly when going slow or if i hit a bump at a lower speed making a left hand turn.
please let me know what you find as i need my fixed also

If this happens, just take it to the dealer. I did and they weren't surprised. It's pretty much an acknowledged defect. Just take it in.

I'm starting to notice this on my 2003 after only 6 months. It sounds like the dealer should know what I'm complaining about.

Wow, I hear this same thing coming from the passenger's side of the front end when making left hand turns. I took my truck in and they replaced the sway bar bushings but I can still hear it. I'm going back when I have time off to get it fixed (hopefully).
