Subject: Anyone put a big block mopar in a dakota IP: Logged
Message: I have seen some conversions before and schumacher makes engine and tranny mounts, has anyone done this and how difficult is it? I have a 91 with a tired four banger in it and the truck still looks sharp. Thanx in advance.

Message: I have 2 Daks and I plan to drop in a 440 with a 727 trans in the 97. There will be many problems but it will be fun. You can put anything in anything with enough time and money. My best friend (he's 65) is building an S10, he has the engine (350) finished, it cranks out 558 HP and a boat load of torque. He has spent a boat load of money also.

Message: it is a good idea, and many people have done it, but just to let you in on how much this will cost, the schumacher mounts are $385 themselves, headers will probably be about $500, because TTI is probably the only one who makes them, and then you need the engine and figure out the wiring

Message: I figured wiring would be the biggest pain

Message: it always is, right, but it would be nice to see it happen, just remember, you wont have the computer anymore, so you will need new items to run the alternator and such, as well as maybe a fuel tank depending on where the fuel pump is, if it is in the tank, you need one without the pump if you run a carb, but if you run injection, it is ok, because EFI takes about 80 pounds more fuel pressure than a carb

Message: Mine is in the tank, figured i would modify that a little bit by removing the pump and making some kind of pick up tube back there.
