I have a 2000 dak qc 4.7 4x4. Today I just put in upper ball joints in. The 1999 upper ball joints DO,,,,,I REPEAT,,,,,DO interchange with the 2000 models.

The rivets must be cut or torched off and the holes on the ball joints must be enlarged a bit with a drill.

The dealer said that "they were a little worn but not much". When I sperated the spindle from the upper "a" arm and removed the dust boot I about "sheert". They were flopping all over the place. Its my feeling that you have to do this in order to get a good insight as to how worn out they really are.

If you hear "popping" during a sharp turn, or over a bump at slower speeds, this is an indication that the ball joints are shot.
Mine went as far as to create a shimmy at 50-60mph.

my dak has 43,000 on it. As you can see it doesnt take alot of miles to have this problem.

good luck.
