Message: What vitriol! You punks are soooo pathetic. You are reduced to name calling when someone challenges your silly little likes and dislikes. Rational discourse eludes you. Not to mention the bad grammar and punctuation let alone your writing skills. 13 yo? Hardly! Don't drive a truck? Again, wake up a$$hole. The truck pulls a $60K boat and is stored at our vacation house at the lake. It's driven every weekend. Two cars, 1 truck & 1 boat - all purchased in cash. Combined purchase price: $160K+ and none over 3 years old. Hell I've paid almost as much in insurance and registration (CA) as you paid for your trucks over the last 3 years.
This thread was started as a "Oh, please help find a good home for two awesome, maybe someday classic R/T's and degenerated to name calling. Why have to beg when they will be "classics"? Oh, Puhleez...grow up!
PS...those "classic" micro machines you've been hording must REALLY be worth some dough.

Message: I have a Hot Wheels Dakota RT...
wonder how much its worth??
According to the DOT any vehicle 25 years or old is considered a "classic".. but limited production numbered vehicles become classics off of the assebly line. Just look at something as cheap as the Shelby Charger. When i got mine, it still had the window sticker in it... $9,995 in 1985. I did some research and found out because there was only 55xx made that year, it was an immediate classic.
I really dont think that the RT is limited into that tight of a production number to be considered classic... but i am willing to be that in 10 years or so, it would be sought after as some chevy lunatics search for that underpowered (250hp) 454SS pickup.
I dont remember who said it but the 4.7 might not be a dime a dozen right now... but it will be. I think that the 5.9 wont be killed soon... but i have read rumors of the dak being remodeled in 2005... i would expect it to be gone then.
On a similar note, for all those people that think that the 4.7 replace the 5.2 and that the 5.2 is dead.... then why are they still being put into the full size vans????

Message: Actually, 01motorsport...the dodge.com site listed 1/2 dozen in the L.A. area at dealers when I did a quick search yesterday. The listing was for only 8 dealers and many dealers I regularly pass on the way to the office weren't listed. All were listed in excess of $28K and maybe the interested buyers are looking for better values.

Message: Go to www.dodge.ca -- It is the Canadian site the last time I looked they were $30.256.00 base.(did the build your own thing). There is something odd that I have noticed lately... if Americans bought vehicles here in Canada that would save them a bundle. If you compare the prices here and there they are slightly more expensive in Canada (7-10%), but the exchange rate is say.. 65-70 cents on the dollar between the curencies, you can save 7 or more thousand. There is a big thing here with folks with cash buying up pick-ups and heading south to sell for nearly equal what they paid but in US $$ instead of the loonie. Now they are trying to make you sign a document at the dealership saying the vehicle will not be sold in the US for at least 1 year.I had to sign it and same with the misses car. But that doesn't mean you can't come up here!! Just in case anyone is interested, you might save a pile. As for the Dak price ,the truck comes pretty much loaded from the factory base,Other than leather, upgrade stereo,WAY overpriced compass/temp thinger and a few other little things. When I bought mine they threw in the undercoating-interior/exterior protection bit, paid the first 2 months and also took a grand off and I paid under 31 Canadian with tax loaded up minus the leather.

Message: Hey, steve, I went to Montreal in the 70's, and recall $1.10 US buying $1.00 Canadian; everything changes...A dealer told me that about 60% of Dodge dealers are "Five Star", which they must be to be able to post inventory on Dodge.com.

Message: Dakota Driver,
There's no difference between Canadian vehicles and US Federally smogged vehicles. There the same creature. Under NAFTA, dealers can't stop you from importing or exporting vehicles as long as they're for personal use. But if you try buying vehicles in Canada and selling them in the US as new, then you'll be in a world of hurt when DC's lawyers rip you a new one.

Message: I know about slow selling R/Ts. I cant even get 1/2 what I have into mine back...and Im asking $15k with under 20,000 miles.
As for the Canadian import thing. Youd better hope the USDOT dont get hold of ya on the way back. You would pay a tax of $60 for every $1,000 the vehicle costs.
Ive purchased new vehicles through Canadian dealers before...but through a broker. It costs $500...but damn, its worth every penny.
One US $1 is worth $.60 pennies.
