Both the fleet salesman I bought it from when I questioned him before I bought, and the service rep which i talked to today after mentioning my squeeky brakes said it has to do with not braking hard enough during the break in period. The constant slow pressure creates a glaze on them. So basically they are not being seated(?) as the previous poster mentioned.

I'm a computer geek so I wouldn't know one way or the other, but i'm getting a constant story at least.

My 2003 QC does the same damn thing. Ever since I bought it and even today it has this damn "hum/squeel when I back up slow and somethimes when I go forward slow.

My truck has over 6K miles on it now and I had to really JAM on the breakes a few times when people cut me off. I'd think they would have been "seated" by now. Hmm... never heard of brakes needing to be seated before.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has used "Sil-Glyde" or the likes with any results?

Pretty soon this things gonna pi$$ me off enough to go try it myself. It's worked on other vehicles.

My 03 CC has 4 wheel disk brakes and it squeaked from the day I took it for a test drive. Personally, I don't care becuse I have great stopping power and that's all that matters to me. I think it's the pad material that causes the noise. My other vehicle had the worst brakes you can imagine until I replaced them with Raybestos pads & rotors. They squeak some now, but the car stops like it should.
BTW, my truck was one of the few that the Factory Boys took out for a Quality Check. I'm sure the brakes squeaked for them, too.

I'll admit that the brakes seem to work really good.

Some dipsh*t in a small car cut off this big Suburban who then swerved into my lane a few weeks ago.

My brakes stopped me even as one side of my truck was offroad into the dirt!

If my brakes would have not worked as good as they did I would have had a reverse impression of the word CHEVROLET on my hood. That would have SUCKED BIG TIME!

I took it in last week and they said I needed new caliper bushings on my brakes. They said this is something that wears out after 100K, and since I only have 5K, mine were defective.

When I actually talked to the guy who did the call he said he thought he remembered that the bushing was actually missing from my truck.

I have no idea what a brake caliper bushing does, but I'll let everyone know after Friday if it solves the problem when I get it back.

Well it was determined after trips to different dealers that my rotors were pooched. Since my brake warranty had expired by the time they would admit it I had to fight to get them to replace them under warranty but they agreed to do so.

I bought it in yesterday to get it done. While there i decided to let them do a full fluid change. While working on the rear differential they discovered that something had let go in it and had fuxored the gears and tore up the inside of the case. Now the rear drive assembly has to be replaced.

I'm so glad I bought a brand new 2003 rather then getting a used one and I'm glad I babied it to keep it from wearing out prematurely. 25000 km and the rear end is shot. Fantastic.

I have 16,000 miles on my 03 CC (came with 4 wheel disc) ,the brakes do make some noise at slow speed , but I haven't noticed any squeeking. I am also happy to say I haven't noticed any pulsating or any signs of rotor warp. So maybe DC did do something different with the pads on the 03 models.
I do have to agree with Macman about the lugnuts . One lugnut on each wheel was way tighter that the rest. I checked mine at about 2,000 miles and tourqed them to 105 lbs. so you might want to check the lug nuts
