 Subject: 4WD Indicator Light

I have a 1992 Dakota with the 5.2L V8. When I take it out of 4WD, I have to drive for about a mile or two before the 4WD indicator (on the floor shifter) turns off. I checked and the truck goes out of 4WD, but the light stays on for quite a while.
Any one with a similar experience? Is this normal, and if not, what should I do?

Sticky switch. Juice it with W-D 40 and work the plunger in and out.
