Message: I have made a few runs @ both tracks...
Either one will do. Heck, I am just glad to see people going and running. I know WAY too many people who quote 1/4 mile times but have never been to a dragstrip.
Both places will give you a timeslip, and both have the required 1320 ft. of pavement.
Byron may be a nicer place, but Great Lakes will work.

Message: gld is the drag strip that maintenance forgot. byron looks just as crappy, but the track is much better... trying to launch at gld is like trying to launch on marbles. i went to gld all the time because it was 20 mins away, then i started going to byron. same mods.. but at byron i ran .3-.5 faster

Message: GLD is great compared to ROCK FALLS, I live in Sparta (by LaCrosse) and went to Rock Falls for years and that is the worst place I've seen.
You get 3 time trials if your lucky ,and they are spread out from 8 am to 3 pm (cool to hot-- hard to get a good dial with temp difference) and it costs like $40. Al Corda is an a$$hole.
Tri-States Dragway is nice but a long drive so is GLD (3.5 hours),well long for a car running 3600rpm's at 65 mph.

Message: right. the track was greasy. on my first run i spun the tires all the way to redline in 1st gear.with a 3000 rpm launch. what worked was to not try to launch hard then stand on it. best e.t. was a 15.799@85.71 mph i did better last year. byron is too far away for me. besides i hate FIB'S.
