Subject: Chevy Trucks Reliability? IP: Logged
Message: I once thought that full-size Chevy's were the kings of the road so to speak when it came to reliablity.
Talking with a friend of mine last night and I figured out different. He has a 2002 Chevy 2500HD 4wd with the 8.1L V8 and auto tranny. In one day his a/c computer and tranny blew out. They fixed the a/c under warranty and will have to replace the entire transmission because the Chevy dealership doesn't work on Allison transmissions. They just replace them. The tranny was covered as well but still.
The truck is forsale by the way. The gas mileage is crap (somewhere around 9mpg or so I think) and now he's worried about the quality.
Just thought I'd share this story for all of those who think only Dodge has quality problems.

Message: I drive a Dodge Dakota, I work for a Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep Dealer, I think Jeeps with 4.0l I-6 engines may be some of the longest lasting vehicles ever domestically manufactured....BUT, I know as well as anyone with a litlle bit of intelligence that ALL manufacturers make better automobiles today than in the past. I also understand that God does not oversee operations of any automaker, so sometimes they are not perfectly crafted. Get used to it. It happens the same way with toaster ovens and even new homes.
OH...and why would he have the right to complain about fuel mileage in that truck? Did he expect 15mpg or even better? sheeez

Message: first of all he had to know the gas mileage would be bad and everyone else should know too...it is a 496 bbc...lol...and second his tranny might of might not have blown if he drove it right.I have 2 chevy's and there just as dependable as my good ole' dakota, also if he wanted dependabilaty he shouldn't have got a motor and tranny that hasn't been out for more than 2 years..lol...there new than are bound to have problems..lol..I'm not being a smarta$$ or am i saying that i like chevys more than dodges but what i am saying is that new things do have a chance to go to crap.

Message: You guys kill me. It was just a STORY about how another vehicle has problems other than a dakota. He new the mpg would be bad but not as bad as it turned out. He was good to the transmission and didn't ever take it off road. He had 4wd for hauling trailers including a horse trailer.
