 Subject: What kind of Dakota should I buy?

I currently own a 1999 Dodge Dakota V6 Regular Cab Sport. It is a great truck and I have already put Flowmasters Dual Exhaust and a K&N air filter, but it has been giving me a lot of problems with the transmission recently. The original owner must have abused the truck, I know he wrecked it but I do not know how bad. So when I start working for my Nalley or Hayes Dodge, I want to order a brand new Dakota the way I want it. But that is where the problem comes. I do not know if I should get a regular, club, or quad cab. What engine should I get, the V8 5.2 or 5.9? I want the R/T package but I do not like the new body kit they are putting on them. Should I get a manual or automatic? What are your opinions?

4.7 is a good engine, but will likely not prove to be the long mileage engines (200,000 and greater)like the 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 engines have been. One minor issue we have seen just a little at the dealership is for those owners who choose to have "long interval" oil changes. You are sludging up that 4.7L. Other than that, so far we are getting great service out of them and expect them to be a 150,000 mile engines when maintained properly.

The 5.9L V-8 (along with the 5.2L and the 3.9L, which are the same engine other than # of cyls and the crankshaft used), has always been a 200,000 mile engine. The owner has been the largest variable in it's service life. When serviced as recommended (that does mean more than changing the oil and filter), these engines (as a rule of thumb) will last well over 200,000 miles. That does NOT mean that you will have NO engine repairs to make.

DEREK, Answer a few Questions and you'll get better info.
1) do you have kids? = quadcab
2) do you tow stuff? = 3.92 rear end
3) do you drive agressively(be honest)? = 5 speed
4) do you commute to work? = automatic
You get the idea.

first of all chief, ur about to work for dodge and u didnt know they stopped making the 5.2L like years back? to answer your question, u should get a 5spd 5.2L reg cab with the 3.92 (find a used one i guess). then get the m1 (fixes the bellypan) kn FIPK, mopar pcm and u will be more then happy for the summer. all three of those parts are in the mopar perf. magazine, but u should just steal them from the backroom.

Just buy my truck off of me. It is already modded. Turns low 14's to high 13's in the 1/4 mile . Shelby front end, lots of mods, fully loaded and of course it is a 2000 R/T CC, Black with 30,000 miles on it. I just started looking at Vipers and I have to get rid of the truck.
