Message: The 4.7 holds 1 full qt. more oil than a 5.9 and the radiator holds almost 3 qt's more coolant.
I knew when I looked at that radiator it was huge. I guess it's not just my imagination after all. Hopefully all this extra fluid equals great protection and a cooler truck.
I know when I opened the hood on my 5.2 my face almost melted. It may be my imagination but the engine compartment feels a lot cooler in my 4.7 than it did in my 5.2.

Message: Well I just got back from a short drive and it's hot out today. I opened the hood and felt no heat radiating off the block and the composite intake manifold can actually be touched without burning your hand. I would say this engine does a very good job of cooling it's self. I haven't changed T stats yet either. At this point in time the composite manifold appeares to be a great plus because of it's non heat conducting properties which of course equals lighter weight and cooler air in to the combustion chambers. Based on everything I have heard on this board and others the 4.7 should be putting out much more power than it does now with minimal modifications. Apparently Chrysler has over retarded the timing in order to avoid the pinging problems of the 5.2 and 5.9. Looking forward to building on this great platform over the next couple years and seing just what these 4.7 OHC motors can do.

Message: Are you sure it's the radiator and not the motor and hoses that hold the extra 3 quarts? Either way it should make for a cooler motor, I just wonder if it is a bigger radiatior maybe a swap would be smart for the pushrod guys who tow.

Message: I am sure it's the rad. I even made a post comenting on the size of this radiator. It doesn't look like it will work with a 5.9 however because it's completly different. The cap is mounted in line between a hose that runs to the block whereas the other Magnum pushrod motors have the cap mounted directly on the top of rad it self. The whole shroud for that matter is completly different also.
