I know this sounds crazy...but I used to use the same polish for my Buckles on my Meg's (Chrome) Tips. The salty air in Santa Cruz (when I still lived there) was hell on chrome tips (as well as other parts of the trucks body).

Mother's Metal Polish - Chrome, Nickel, Gold, Brass (No scratches either)

SOS Pad? Ouch!

What type of wax are you using? I'm surprised that the wax stays on for more than 10 miles...those tips get pretty hot. ;)

JT--it would be cheaper to use #80 sand paper,than a SOS pad...and you wouldn't need any water.Thanks for the tip,know pun intended.HeHeHe

Just get some stainless steel tips. They cost alittle more but will last much longer.
