Message: Hey all! I am thinking of embarking on a interesting project but can't find much info! What I have is a 97 Dakota 4x4, 5.2, 5-speed. I got hit by a semi last fall and it totaled the truck out, I am Using the remaining body parts to fix another gen 3. what I want to do is get a dodge rampage and take the body and set it onto my Dakota Chasis!!! I am confident that I can do it, my only problem is I can't find much info on the rampages!!! I am thinking a 1983 would look pretty good but like I said can't find much info on the web! I know I am going to run intop issues with the firewall, but I have a buddy that small blocked an RX-7 so I know he can help me with that! I might have to shorten the frame but that is no big deal (seeing as how I need to straighten it first anyways) other than that, I am jsut trying to think of what I will have to mess with sticking it in there! ANY ADVISE OR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRETIATED!!!!! ThanX in advance!

Message: Interesting idea you've got. The Rampage had much shorter wheelbase and track width. There was a competitive tractor puller here in Tennessee in the 1980's that used a Rampage body and a 440. There was a drag racer named Paul Rossi that ran NHRA back then, too. The Rampage was based on the Omni chassis, front-drive, usually 2.2 4-cyl. They looked like the Dodge Charger of that era, with a built in pickup bed a la El Camino/Ranchero/Rabbit. They were only made from 1982 to 1984, and only 45,000 total were produced, one reason that you rarely see one. The biggest shortcoming that I recall about them, and the Omni/Chargers, was the dangerous steering column. The column was solid and would not collapse in a front end collision. Chrysler's solution?..a "deep-dish" steering wheel to absorb the impact!! I bet their lawyers wished the vehicles hurried up and hit the boneyards! I thought they were as cute as could be, but the design execution wasn't so hot.

Message: Oh, yeah; the tractor-puller had a custom fiberglass front end that was stretched out like a funny car design, and he used a stock Rampage external body from the firewall back.

Message: Rampage has to be the uglist thing Dodge ever came out with. Putting it on a Dak frame would look extremely stupid.

Message: I've had my 84 Rampage for about 6 months now. I am not a car enthusiast, I just needed to have something to get from point A to point B. I need something more practical (there's no room for a carseat in the Rampage)...
I know there are enthusiasts out there, so I'm hoping someone is in need of this car!
The car (truck):
Shiny fire engine red, great body, no rust, no dents. Interior needs some improvement. New clutch, carberator, fuel pump, alternator, rotor, plugs and wires. Newer engine (about 20K). All the new parts are because I went to a shady mechanic who couldn't (wouldn't) diagnose the carberator problem...long story... :-(
I'm in southwest FL (Tampa area).
If you or someone you know may be interested, email me at iknow_right@hotmail.com. I'm willing to be flexible on purchase price as long as you make me a fair offer!
This is a great car; it's just not for me.
Thank you!!
~ K
