Message:
i have a 2000 dakota sport with the 4.7l v8 automatic. i was cruisin' around tonight and my truck just died. and it would not start. after about 10-15 turns of the key and the engine cranking it finally started. there was a message in the odometer screen that said "no bus" what the hell does that mean? the rest of the night the truck died another 10 times but each time i just shifted into neutral and turned it over and kept on goin trying to make it home. it also reads code "p0700" i have no idea what that means also the temp guage kept getting higher and higher but didn't make it into the red. it also had no power at all, could barely make it up one hill here in calgary. could someone please help me,i can't take the truck into the dealer tomorrow because it is sunday and i need it for work on monday. i think im hooped!damn it!!!!!!!!!!!

I did a quick search of these forums for p0700 ,seems to be tranny related. It would be easier for you to search through and find relevant info than for me to repost stuff which may not have to do with your problem.

OBD2 DTC's are the same for every make of car P0700 is Transmission Control System Malfunction.

It doesn't mean your transmission control module has failed it means that a request was sent by the TCM to the PCM to set a DTC and trip the MIL. The TCM can't set a DTC and trip the MIL on it's own so it asks the PCM to do it. The PCM reports that something is up with the TCM.

If you go to the dealer and have them hook up their DRBIII Scan Tool they can poll the TCM and find out why it asked the PCM to set a DTC and trip the MIL.
