Does anybody know if the GEN II is available for a 98 3.9 V6. I have difficulty finding one. All leads I have followed indicates KN have not made one yet for that year and model. If anybody knows anything different please let me know.

I've read guys using K&N 57-1509 with slight modifications (especially with cruise control). You might have to mod the heat shield to accommodate the AC lines or bend them. I just purchased a Volant air intake (didn't get a chance to install it yet) but it is listed for 5.2/5.6 L engines as well. Review some past threads on air intakes. K&N's advantage is they are CARB approved. Volant is working on it. Good Luck.

Does the Volant Have a Heat Shielding Box That separates the air filter from the engine compartment like the K & N?

Hi BigG,

Volant has a small heat shield partly around the air filter. It doesn't segragate the filter from the engine compartment. The filter placement is right near the air opening (front passenger corner)in the engine compartment. Check out www.volantperformance.com They have a picture of an installation on a Durango (I think, might be a dak). Volant may not be the best setup to separate the filter from the engine compartment (maybe alittle better than Airaid) but they seem to address the cruise control issue. I bought it on sale (alittle cheaper than K&N GenII) from www.truckperformance.com a couple of weeks ago. When I get a chance to install it, I'll write back.
