Subject: Slightly wider tires IP: Logged
Message: Has anybody replaced the P255R65/15 tires with the P275R60/15 tires?
According to my calc. they should be roughly the same diameter, with the P275 about an inch wider.
I am considering this as I have 65,000 miles on my original Goodyears, and I think only they and Pirelli makes this 255-65/15 replacement.
So the wider ones may be more available and cheaper?
If you have I would like to know the brand, price, ride (harsher or the same), and appearance (how much tire sticks out more than original on rim and in fenderwell).
I need something good on snow and wet, like the Goodyears.
Also I have the 2000 QC, 4.7 with no fender moldings. Adding the fender moldings may be an option if the tire extends more.
Thanks.

Message: Yep, I run the 275's as well. They stick out a little if you don't go with flares. Just about any tire will be better than stock. I went with firestone firehawks. I think it was just over 4 bills for all four installed. They are wearing much better than the stock tires. Rain performance and the over all ride is much better.

Message: I'm runnin the 275/60 15s on my truck also. Got 4 Roadhuggers at Discount Tire. I bought my truck used & it had Copper Cobras on it when I got it. I like the Roadhuggers alot better. Good tire all around.

Message: I bought my 96 Dakota about a month ago. It has 275s front and rear, Roadhuggers from Discount Tire. I love 'em, I think they can be had for around $50 apiece.

Message: I got BFG 275/60-15's on all four. had them for a year seems to be no noticeable wear on 16k miles they do stickout a little, but they are the same diameter as the ones it came with.
they are NOT good in the snow they're like snow plows...too wide...I'm moving to south Texas so they will never see snow again. If I were to stay here in WI I would not use them for winter driving.
